After purchasing the pallet of sod you might want to take these tips to make sure you have a chance to enjoy all the sods benefits. To the curb appeal of your home and even filling in those muddy spots that always track in dirt on rainy days.
Bermuda sod is great for areas of your yard that receive at-least 6 hours of sunlight a day. It’s important to remember bermuda sod is very hearty, drought resistant, and spreads very quickly. This sod will get into flowers beds and other areas. To prevent this once you get your sod collect your grass clippings in a bag from your mower, or mulch your Bermuda grass clippings away from the area you do not want your bermuda grass to spread.
The bermuda sod pallets come fertilized, pre-treated for unwanted crab grasses, and pest.
When rolling the sod pallets out you want to make sure and clear the area down to the dirt. No need to till because that will create air pockets and turn into yellow spots on your turf.
once you unroll the pallet on the ground you will want to water the sod 2 times a day for 45 minutes when the sun is not out. If you would like to fertilize your sod after you roll it out. Use an all natural fertilizer like MIlagro. This fertilizer is poop pellets and will not heat up in the sun. Traditional chemical based fertilizers react with extreme heat and burn up sod blades.
Once you Roll out your pallets eventually you will want to cut it. Allow your 500 sqft of sod to get rooted and grow about 6 inches tall. This will allow the 500 SqFt you rolled out to produce seeds. The first time you cut your 500 SqFt of sod you will want to mulch. This will spread the visible seeds at the top of the long blades thus building your turf further. The result will be worth the wait.
Bermuda sod can be installed during the winter. Just like any other bermuda sod you might see on the side of the highway or around most schools. The bermuda will go dormant and turn green again during warm months.
